Nominations and Elections

The founders of the International Association of Professional Farriers spent countless hours in developing the organizational structure of the association.  They were able to research the bylaws and structure of numerous other associations.  They also received input from executives of other associations.  One area of concern was the nomination and election of directors and officers.

It was determined that the best way to provide ongoing leadership to the association, would be to offer staggered terms for directors.  Directors would be elected for a three-year term and not eligible for re-election until they had spent at least one year off of the Board.  Directors would either be nominated by fellow members, the Nominating & Election Committee, or be self-nominated.  Directors would be voted upon and elected by the entire membership.

Officers would be nominated and elected by the directors.  The president and vice-president would serve two year terms, while the treasurer would serve a three-year term.
